Nuclear Energy Essay Example for Free

Nuclear Energy Essay There are many advantages and disadvantages of using nuclear power. Nuclear power is said to prevent power outages that happen in areas without nuclear power. For an example, if we were using hydroelectricity and the dam suddenly malfunctions, then we won’t have electricity until someone fixes the dam, and that would be difficult if it happened in the middle of the night. However, on the other hand, nuclear power is also considered toxic and it pollutes the Earth with harmful and deadly waste. Here are a few reasons why we should and should not use nuclear power. One of the reasons why we should use nuclear power is that it doesn’t pollute like coal and other fossil fuels. Scientists have said that using nuclear power is used to power electricity in most homes. They have also been saying that nuclear power tend to work better than using fossil fuels, gas power, and hydroelectric power. Since scientists are saying it works better, than we can use more nuclear power than using fossil fuels, gas power, and hydroelectric power. Another reason why we should use nuclear power is that scientists have said that it is possible to generate a high amount of electrical energy in one single nuclear power plant unlike coal, gas, hydroelectric power plants since they need a few to power electricity. This is important because it costs more to build a nuclear power plant than to build a coal, gas, or hydroelectric power plant. That way, we can save money by building one nuclear power plant instead of a few coal, gas, or hydro electric power plants. One more reason why we should use nuclear power is that scientists have been saying that the affect of global warming because of nuclear has been relatively little compared to coal, gas, and hydroelectric power. If we keep using nuclear power for electricity and other good uses, then there would be less global warming, but if we start to use more and more fossil fuels, then global warming will keep increasing in the future, so to prevent this, we can use nuclear energy. One of the reasons why we should not use nuclear power is that nuclear power is that nuclear energy releases radiation such as alpha, beta, and gamma radiation. Alpha particles can cause skin injuries similar to severe burns, beta particles can travel into the body and damage cells, and finally, gamma rays can deliver intense energy to the cells and cause severe damage. Radiation  from nuclear energy can wipe out the human generation, since mutation usually occurs when a person is affected by radiation. In order to prevent this from happening, we shouldn’t take chances and use nuclear energy. Another reason why we shouldn’t use nuclear power is because it takes many years for it to decay. Unlike coal, gas, and hydroelectric power, once you use it, it is not done. After a point where it has no more nuclear power, there are still radioactive waves in it that will still damage your cells. After the half-life of the radioactive element occurs, which could take a long time , only half of it has decayed. Nuclear energy can help, but later on we would have to dispose the nuclear waste to decay in a remote location. If we need remote locations to dispose nuclear waste, then one day we would run out of those areas, and possibly half of the world will be not be accessible to humans due to nuclear waste occupying the areas. One more reason why we shouldn’t use nuclear power is that one of the types of nuclear energy, nuclear fission produces high amounts of nuclear waste. Scientists have been saying that if we use nuclear energy, then we should be disposed off at a safe place since they are extremely hazardous and can leak radiation if not stored properly. If the wastes somehow get into the freshwater and saltwater systems, then all the sea animals will get affected, and we won’t be able to drink the water from the freshwater. Another type of nuclear energy, nuclear fusion doesn’t produce any nuclear waste unlike nuclear fission, but it is really hard to make, so since it is hard to make, it won’t be helpful for everyday electricity. In conclusion, there are many advantages and disadvantages against nuclear energy, but I think that as long as we keep the nuclear power plant is in a remote location where no one can go and get affected, we can use nuclear energy. When the nucle ar waste is produced, then we can dispose it off at a safe place since it’s extremely hazardous and can leak radiation if not stored properly. If we are going to use nuclear energy, then we should handle it carefully even if it is for electricity because if it is misused, then people who are affected by the radiation from the energy will have mutations or possibly even die.

Speech on Euthanasia -- Euthanasia is Murder

Speech on Euthanasia I stand before you today in confrontation. I stand before you today equal to any man. I stand before you today with a challenge! I challenge any man who deems, their morals, their ethics, their beliefs, their conscience enough to find themselves fit to judge others. I challenge any man who deems himself fit to pass judgement upon another’s life. I challenge any man who believes they can play god. I challenge any man who believes in euthanasia. How can you believe in something you cannot justify? There is no justification in euthanasia so how can it even be considered to be preformed, how could anyone ever justify the taking of another’s life. A mercy killing is the literal definition of the word euthanasia, tell me, where is the mercy in killing. Death and murder have no variations, no catalysts or pathways leading around them, murder and death are what they are. Therefore how can anyone make that decision, the decision upon another’s life? What could ever drive a person to believe they have a power others do not, the power of life and death. That they can decide who lives and who dies, and by what aspects can they base such a decision? Whether a life is worthy or not, whether they are using life justly or just wasting it, are they just a drain on society, are they productive in society. By that analysis of life any person who has no job and so drains on society, any person who has no positive aspect on life should be killed? Is that their idea? That just because the body cannot perform a duty then the mind is not worth its life. They say that they can no longer produce commodities, they are like an old m... ...nasia can be a lazy option. Doctors may never realise they have anything to learn. Few things are more rewarding to me than visiting someone dying at home, relieving pain and other symptoms so the person can start to live again. Restoring dignity, quality of life and giving people back control over their lives is far better than fatal injections. Most people are visibly relieved when they are told euthanasia is not an option. When symptoms are properly controlled, fears dealt with, practical help is provided and people feel safe, it is very rare for people to ask again for death by euthanasia. No my companions, we will not give up, we will not frail away from the fight, we will stand firm and oppress that which is euthanasia, we will not let it be legalised, for to legalise euthanasia would be to legalise murder.

Ray Rice vs. Solange and Jay Z

Violence against one another is not okay either way male or female. The Ray Rice, Jay Z and Collagen incident happened the exact same way Just the opposite sex. This fight within the celebrities had the world talking. â€Å"What Happened? Or is there sound to hear what they're sallying The reason this has an effect on our culture Is because both Jay Z and Ray Rice are huge role models to people. In the music Industry Jay Z Is a role model to people because people want to be just like him.Ray Rice is the man n the NFG and he has people that want to play in the league and that look up to him as their favorite player. The difference between the videos is that one is a male and one is a female whiffs doing the hitting. No one knows what really happened or what caused the fight they Just see hitting. Now since Collagen was hitting Jay Z people didn't make It a big deal, some of the peoples comments were â€Å"Collagen got them hands! Or She can fight! † people were basically worsh ipping her, not understanding that she was attacking him. What if he would have swung back? Then Jay z would have been labeled as a woman beater, but instead he didn't he Just kept moving her. In the middle of everything I still am trying to figure out why Beyond didn't do anything. Instead of people understanding that Collagen is a woman and not hitting her was the right thing to do, people are saying he's a female dog and a vagina. All of this Is because he has respect not only for women but his wife, by not hitting her sister. One thing I did find interesting while researching is that some reporters say he reason Collagen went off like that is because she found out Jay Z has been hitting Beyond.Beyond has a song out and in this song one of her lyrics say sit goes down when it's a billion dollars on an elevator. † Shocker that happened, could that be the reason Beyond wasn't fighting back? Now Ray Rice and his fiancà ©Ã‚ ©e, that whole video was disrespectful to start. Not o nly did he spit on her while she was walking past but he did It again when he got on the elevator. For Ray Rice to do something like that shows that he has no respect for any woman. One person comment was â€Å"l onto care how mad you get never spit on a lady then put your hands on her! ESP. better known as Sports Center was going crazy. Ray Rice was the trending topic all day. He ended up getting suspended and his wife ended up staying with him. She caused all that drama to be right back with him. Some people still call her a Gold- digger, because she Just wants his money. The fight between Ray Rice and his fiancà ©Ã‚ ©e grabbed more attention in the media and throughout the world because he's a football athlete. He has his whole football career ahead of him and he almost threw it al away over hitting a woman.I remember watching ESP. and one of the reporters stated, â€Å"Was he drunk? Does he know what could happen to him? † Number three of media literacy is the ability t o distinguish emotional from reasoned reactions when responding to content and to act accordingly. The emotional part was watching his sympathy for her. In closing, both fights were wrong, both fights shouldn't have happened, but everyone has their problems. No one knows everyone's problems but when you're a star or a celebrity, there is no private life.

The Case Of Jonathan Wayne Nobles - 1213 Words

Judgement can be a complicated and uncomfortable process underpinned by tremendous responsibility. This process must produce a judgement that balances all relevant aspects of the case like the circumstances of the crime and the perpetrator, the crime itself, and many additional factors including the potential for the rehabilitation of the perpetrator in order to attain a semblance of justice. Obviously, this is no easy task; as the unfortunate case of Jonathan Wayne Nobles illustrates, it often proves impossible. On the night of September 13, 1986, Jonathan Wayne Nobles, 25, while under the influence of alcohol, speed, marihuana, and cocaine, broke in to an Austin Texas residence wielding a large knife. Nobles, a drug addict at the†¦show more content†¦According to Earle, Nobles became very interested in Catholicism, attended Mass, befriended the catholic clergy of the prison system, and even â€Å"set his sights† on becoming-successfully doing so-a lay member of the Dominican Order of Preachers because he â€Å"admired the Dominicans so much† (Earle 75). Furthermore, Nobles was happy to minister to his fellow inmates; he even stood as godfather at convict Cliff Bogguss’s baptism and helped to officiate at the mass that was celebrated the night before Bogguss’ execution (Earle 75). Given these facts, it is evident Nobles’ active devotion was heartfelt. Needless to say, Nobles strived to inspire others with the word of God. After becoming a member, â€Å"for eight years Jonathan was a spiritual leader on death row bringing the Good News to those who themselves faced the same sentence† (Roche). His late found faith seems to have gave him the power to love his fellow men more than ever. Clearly, faith pushed Nobles to be a better more loving human, eager to help those around him. They say action speaks louder than words and it is Jonathan Nobles’ benevolent actions that give the most credence to his rehabilitation. Juan Ignacio Blanco describes in Murderpedia, the online encyclopedia of murders, how Jonathan Nobles went through extraordinary extent five years before his execution to try to successfully donate the one organ that seemed relatively easy to gift: â€Å"Nobles disclosed he had been corresponding withShow MoreRelatedSolution Manual, Test Bank and Instructor Manuals34836 Words   |  140 PagesEdition, 2nd Edition_Joyce Fung-Goh B.L., Suriya Binte Shukor, Marie Christine Que Cheong, Fadhlina Samsudin, Tan Shu Hong (SM ) Accounting and Auditing Research Tools and Strategies, 6th Edition_Thomas Weirich,Thomas C.
